Metallica's record label could be owned by Sean Parker, the co-founder of Napster, who was played by Justin Timberlake in the movie 'The Social Network'. The website was closed after Metallica went into a legal battle against it.
Eleven years ago,in the year 2000, Metallica launched a legal action against Parker's online service, the first major in the mp3 download market. The case was settled out of court but it involved banning 300,000 people from using the website, which displeased many Metallica fans. Lars Ulrich, one of the founding members of the band, later admitted that it was a badly-advised move of his life and he wished he had dealt with it differently.
Napster was finally shut in 2002 and Napster declared itself bankrupt. But Sean Parker beacame a billionaire as a part of the team which made 'Facebook' successful. He is now self-assured to make a bid for the record label.
